Congratulations to Owen Huneke, Senior at Johnston High School, our Nash Athlete of the Week!
“Owen lived 6.5 hours away 6.5 months of his senior year of High School playing Junior Hockey in Northern Minnesota. He recently signed to play college hockey at Waldorf University in the fall. Upon returning to Johnston HS he began tennis, where he was a captain for the dragons. He amassed a combined singles and doubles record of 30-10 on the season. He heated up recently winning the #2 singles division of the Johnston Invitational and Ankeny Hoefle Invitational and finishing 2nd in state singles qualifying in his district (which put him in the State Singles Tournament). In the State Tournament, he won one round in the singles draw. He also helped lead his team to the Team State Tournament where they finished 3rd this week. Owen is very much into fitness and working hard in everything he does, he was even named Hardest Worker on his hockey team this season. He has done all of this while maintaining a 4.0 GPA for the school year and receiving All Academic Team honors for 4 straight years.” Nominated by his Dad, Jim Huneke
